It was our great honour to gift a red flowering sedum to His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston as the patron of BIAC. The delegation representing BIAC, and Brain Injury Awareness Month, included a number of brain injury survivors, caregivers, family members and BIAC executive director Harry Zarins.

The sedum was chosen as the flower best exemplifying characteristics needed to live with an acquired brain injury as it is known to be resilient and adaptable. The sedum variety producing a red flower, in particular, symbolizes strength, determination and courage.

The visit to Rideau Hall included a tour of the residence and informal conversation with His Excellency. His interest, knowledge of brain injury and support of the important work of BIAC was the highlight of a wonderful experience.
